Welcome to the American Stock Horse Association

This Web site has been designed for you, the members, and will allow you access to ASHA rulebooks, calendars, results, standings and much, much more.  At ASHA, we are dedicated to the promotion of the versatile stock horse through affordable education and realistic competitions that are positive and challenging.  We think you will appreciate our open and honest endeavor to help everyone ride a better horse.

ASHA offers a pleasure class that is unique in that it is a patterned, individually scored class that includes maneuvers that ensure a horse is functional and a pleasure to ride in everyday stock/ranch horse chores. The trail class includes common sense obstacles that would be encountered in everyday stock/ranch horse work.  The reining and cow horse classes are two seperate classes.  Each class measures different abilities and this judging system allows each of the maneuvers to be scored individually and be pointed equally with the other classes. The reining class measures a horse’s ability to be willingly guided while performing many basic handling maneuvers such as spins, roll backs, circles, stops & flying lead changes. The working cow horse class measures a horse’s ability to respond to a cow in stock/ranch horse work. These four classes are combined to provide a balance of scoring that measures a true versatile stock horse that is a pleasure to ride on the ranch, on the trail, in the ring, or down the road.
